United In Empathy Mourning 9 Children of Adam In A Blessed Month
The Innocence in GOD’s Creation
Empathy is the ability to recognize, understand and share the feelings of others.
Ramadan is not just a month of fasting but also a time when we become even more mindful of the pain and disparities experienced by others.
The Islamic version of ‘The Golden Rule’ tells us:
“Not one of you truly believes until you wish for others what you wish for yourself.” – Prophet Muhammad [PBUH]
This requires a personal commitment, encouraging us to infuse our sense of empathy with conscience, intelligence and heart.
“We share T’ruah’s vision, reflecting our faith’s mandate to work for understanding, unity and peace among all humanity.” Rabbi Michael White and Rabbi Jerome Davidson
“Where people are acting inhuman, we must strive to be human”. “Make peace with your sister and brother, What is hateful to you do not do to another”, Rabbi Hillel
If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. BIBLE, I John 4:20
No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite. NELSON MANDELA, Autobiography
“Do you know what is better than charity and fasting and prayer? It is keeping peace and good relations between people, as quarrels and bad feelings destroy mankind.” (Muslims & Bukhari)
“What our church and denomination stands for is the universal vision of all people being treated fairly under the law as God sees him in his sight,” Reverend Clementa C. Pinckney, martyred pastor of Emanuel A.M.E. Church.
No one is born filled with prejudice and hate! Prejudice is learned and can be unlearned. Hateful attitudes are rooted in ignorance and a fear of differences.
Let us join together in preserving the innocence of our children, only thus can it become a paradigm for human compassion, empathy and love; a model that demonstrates the transcendency of good over evil. GOD Willing, tomorrow can be better than today.
WE ALL HAVE WITHIN US THE ABILITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
